Lionel Messi - Genius

Lionel Andre Messi was born on the 24th June 1987, in Rosario, the 3rd largest city in Argentina.

He began playing football at a young age and left hometown club Newell's Old Boy's and moved to Europe where Barcelona offered him treatment on his growth hormone deficiency.

At age 13 Messi was only 4 foot 6 inches tall, but Barcelona saw his potential and supported his development.

He made his debut in the 2004/05 season aged 17 and broke his team record of being the youngest footballer to score a league goal.

In 2006/07 season, he became a regular in the first team, and scored 14 goals in 26 games, including a hat-trick against Real Madrid.

Why can't we get commentators like that?

In the seasons that have followed, Leo Messi has gone on to become the world's greatest player, at arguably the world's greatest club, Barcelona.

Tonight he has scored a hat-trick in Barcelona's 8-0 win at Almeria, that makes it 22 for the season, and 62 goals in his last 60 appearences!
